A Pro Flipper Dishes Out Website Flipping Tips

I had the opportunity to get an interview with someone who had much experience with regards to flipping websites, and I made the most of this rare opportunity by asking him as many questions as possible. In this article, I will cover the valuable tips and highlights from the conversation.

In less than 2 months, this guy created and sold more than 100 websites! Being so prolific, it's obvious he already has an efficient system going for him. In fact, he can create one in less than three hours. More inspiring, especially to new website flippers, is that he doesn't even flip websites full time.

He does acknowledge though, that the landscape for selling startups has changed. Six months ago his startups were selling just as quickly as he designed them, and he was selling them for around $297. This was a huge profit considering that the startups weren't showing any traffic or income yet. Buyers nowadays are looking for websites that bear the same price tag but with some income and traffic already.

Currently, the pro flipper is now searching for aged domains which he can then put on the market after some work. His techniques are quite similar to those he would use for a startup site. He posts a blog on the site, adds relevant content, applies backlinks, and so on. Using an established domain Working on a website that's already got some traffic and revenue, you are likely to get greater returns in comparison to selling startups.

One of the experiences he shared was when he made a very profitable flip where he bought one for less than a hundred bucks. After he put some effort into it, he sold it for $1,000! That wasn't pure luck though, as he had to learn some strategies for buying and selling established domains such as ensuring the good PR of the site, dealing with 301 redirects, and preserving the link quality, but obviously it paid off.

He is a huge supporter of Word Press when it comes to blogging platforms. As proof, he uses Word Press themes for all of his sites, and said that they are "easy to setup and transfer and the admin section is a breeze to navigate". Word Press is also friendly for those new to the website flipping realm.

He also offered cool tips on handling auctions on Flippa. He recommends that the seller let the auction run for around 5 to 7 days to so that everyone can have a chance to look at all of your listings. After all, people have varying habits and times for browsing the internet. Another handy tip he shared was to utilize the BIN option if the right moment revealed itself.

It was a long and enlightening interview, and really worth the time. One of the most useful website flipping tip he gave was about maintaining quality. Don't build a site just for the sake of having something to sell. Get some traffic and revenue flowing, and apply SEO before you attempt to sell it. Buyers today are a lot wiser, and they after a business, not just a great looking website.

Lastly, be honest about your site -- what it is and what it gives. Don't discredit yourself by making false claims, or else you could damage your future prospects. It is unethical to promote your site as something it isn't. It could really ruin your site flipping business before you know it.
